In the music video, Khia's guest appearance was limited to just a spoken part in the chorus (which one understood since Lil Kim was the featured artist). During the Access Granted show, her rap verse was shown being filmed. Video director Joseph Kahn stated during Access Granted that this is the first video he has ever filmed using digital video cameras only. Multiple versions of the video were made. The original version (containing Lil Kim's rap, and is brighter), a revised version (a brighter version with different scenes, also known as the "VH1 Version" among fans), and the premiere version (a darker version, previewed on Access Granted, also known as the "BET Version" among fans). Until October 10, 2006, MTV refused to play "So Excited". The video finally aired during MTV Video Wake-up, but was not eligible for vote on TRL. The most well reported reason for the video not being able to chart was racism. This led to several riots outside of MTV headquarters until the video was finally able to debut at #1 on TRL.[citation needed]
After the debut on "106 & Park," album pre-orders shot up well over 8000% and led the album to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 200 well before the album was released.
