Of course Vanilla Ice is going to say that Justin Bieber is going to end up a nobody just like him, because if someone as gigantically popular as Justin Bieber doesn't have what people like to call "staying power," then "staying power" doesn't exist and Ice's disappearance from and loss of importance in pop culture is validated and understood! In other words, it's in Vanilla's best interest to root for Justin Bieber to fail because it would prove that it's just impossible to have a long career in music, and that's why Vanilla Ice fell out of everyone's graces (instead of what really happened, which was just that people realized that he was terrible). So Mr. Winkle can talk about "three year weekends" until he's blue in the face, but hoping another musician fails isn't going to make him relevant. He should just stick to talking about flipping houses.

As much as I dislike Bieber, I strongly disagree. Justin Bieber is the male version of Britney Spears, and she remains relevant 13 years and two injured knees later. Justin just has to be careful not to pull a Miley Cyrus. You know, rush to be all edgy and sexy while alienating your true fans in the process. He'll start to move away from the childish image in the right way, becoming a male sex symbol thus furthering his success.

Though deep down I hope he struggles with the transition and goes crazy. Everybody loves a good trainwreck

Justin has the potential to be an adult popstar but I honestly think his fans will be the biggest issue.

Right now, the majority of people buying his records are girls below the age of 20. As they grow up, will they continue to use him as his music & image matures, or will they ditch him altogether as a fad they got over? Will they care about his artistic growth?

And to be an adult popstar, he will need to broaden his audience. I don't know if men & older women will ever like him due to the consensus of who his current fans are. And also the consensus of his current image: as a teen pop idol.

In all honesty I think his fans will love a male version of Miley Cyrus

But hopefully he handles it maturely and doesnt go all out and film himself with a bong
