Anyone here wear contact lenses?
Thinking of getting them. What are your experiences?

I do, I wear daily ones which means I change everyday and I have to throw them at the trash before going to sleep. In the begining for me it was really hard for me to put them and to get used to them and you have to be careful when touching your eyes or something so they don't move or fall. Sometimes I lose one when I'm wearing them but it's all good, you'll eventually get used to wear lenses.

Same here, I wear daily contact lenses, I don't always need to because my eyesight isn't that bad, I just do when I go to lecture, have to drive etc. The first time it took me literally an hour to put the lenses in, it was a huge mess, but after the 5th time or so I had completely gotten used to them and it takes me about 30 seconds to put them in and take them out. I personally hate wearing glasses so for me it's worth it

I wear monthly lenses and they are fine for me. At my very first appointment, I almost cried because I couldn't get them in, but it becomes easy really quickly. I don't really know what else you want to know, but I'll be glad to answer specific questions haha

What's your reason? Because you need them or you're wearing color contacts for style?
I've always wanted to wear contacts (for both style and eye sight reasons) but I'm so paranoid about things going into my eyes. I tried putting them on once, but I couldn't get them into my eyes and I was scared if I did get them in, I couldn't take them out. I just read this the other day too:
Quote:
Girl Loses Sight After Buying Tinted Contact Lenses
A New York girl needs a cornea transplant after she illegally purchased a pair of colored contacts at a local beauty store for just $20.
The 14-year-old girl found out the dangers of non-prescription coloured contact lenses after developing an eye infection just a day after wearing them.
Now Erica Barnes, from Queens, New York, may have to undergo a cornea transplant after the cheap contacts scratched the surface of her right eye, causing an infection.
The teen admits that she fell asleep with the lenses in, causing a breeding ground for bacteria.
'Once that protective barrier is defeated, bacteria can just flow in,' Dr Roy Chuck, professor and chair of ophthalmology at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx.
'You can treat the infection. But part of healing is making a scar, and that can block vision.'
She suffers constant pain.
A small scratch can feel as bad as 1,000 toothaches. And a big scratch, Dr Chuck said he could 'only imagine what it would be like for a 14-year-old.'
Miss Barnes' step-mother Trina Swain is now warning parents of the risks of coloured contacts.

No they freak me out a bit but I suppose I just wear glasses for reading, if I wore them all the time I'd consider it

I only wear mines on special occasions or when I'm going to an event or trip so I can look cute ( ). If I'm in school I wear them except for when I'm taking exams, I wear my glasses.
TIPS:
1. I suggest if you plan on wearing them the next day get some sleep and rest your eyes so they won't be irritated when you wake up in the morning to put them in.
2. The first few weeks you MIGHT struggle getting the hang of it and putting them into your eyes. But you'll get use to it.
3. Solution/Eye drops to avoid dryness.
4. Don't sleep in them. You might **** up your eyes if you do, they will be hard to get out, and you might have to go to the doctor.
5. Wash your hands before you're going to put them in AND take them out.
6. Make sure you know your left from your right, you're screwed if they are prescription contacts and you put the left contact in the right eye (vice versa).
7. If your eye sight prior to wearing contacts is really-really bad, you might want to take them out if you’re going to be on the computer or anything with a monitor. It will be irritating and you’ll get a headache.
8. If they still hurt after a few weeks take them out, contacts are not for you. You don't want to get an infection or lose more sight.
---
Make sure you get prescripted contacts otherwise it's risky.

Yes, I wear them, monthly ones so I have to put them in solution overnight before I re-wear them.. I hated them at first, because it was ****ing hell to get into my eyes, then plucking them out, but you'll get used to it. And unless they are contacts made especially for sleeping, do NOT sleep in them because they can slip in the back of your eye and get stuck there, making an inflamed eye Oh, whether prescription contacts or not, don't switch the right and left lenses because after wearing them, they take the shape of your eye, so on the right eye, a right contact lens will fit perfectly, but on the left eye it'll hurt like hell for 20 minutes before re-adjusting to that eye

I wear colored contacts.
At first, they were extremely annoying and kind of uncomfortable. Also, it used to take me, like, half an hour to put one in my eye and another half an hour to put the other one in. But now, it only takes like 2 seconds (literally) and I can't even feel them in my eyes anymore. You get used to them rather quickly. Only thing is, be careful when rubbing your eyes. Most of the time, nothing happens. But sometimes, they'll either break or they'll slide to the back of your eye. If they break, it's just annoying to have to take all the pieces out and then have to get new contacts. But if they go to the back of your eye, you have to constantly roll your eyes around in your head until it appears again (which is annoying as hell...thankfully, if they're colored, it's much easier to do this. If they're clear, it's harder to find them once they resurface).
My advice, if you want colored, is not to get colors like blue or gray (if you have dark eyes) those look really fake and sometimes creepy. I wear hazel/green contacts that people say look pretty real and a friend of mine wears honey/light brown contacts that took me a year to finally figure out that they weren't real (and it was only because I asked and she told me) If you have light eyes, then you can pretty much wear any color you want (but I don't see why someone with light eyes would pay so much money just to enhance the color they already have.)
What else?
Hmm. Don't wear them overnight. Do NOT soak them in eyedrops. Once, I went on a trip and forgot my solution, so I had to let my contacts sit in eyedrops for the night and when I put them back in, they stung and irritated my eyes in a way that I can't even begin to explain. If you ever do that, though, just soak your contacts in solution afterwards and then they'll be fine. It's nothing totally horrible and irreversible...but it just hurts.
Putting them on backwards hurts like a bitch.
Keep your solution in a safe place, otherwise your evil siblings will steal it; therefore, leaving you solutionless for a week out of state. -__-
lol. So yeah. Hope this helped.

Never had a problem with them, i have daily new ones. All I do is wash my hands before taking them in and out.
it takes a LONG time to put them in when you first start, but it'll get easier after time.
Go to an eyedoctor, and take it from there.

I do. Monthly ones. It's pretty easy and normal but just dont forget to take them off. I went to sleep with them twice because I was too drunk to remember and that scared the hell out of me. When I woke up, they were completely glued to my eyes, its horrible. Turns out nothing bad happened to me afterwards, but I have a bigger precaution not to get my contacts dry, even when Im awake, so in places where theres a lot of smoke or when I use them for a long time I usually apply some drops of specific liquid to avoid dryness

I have them. The monthly ones. They've made my life so much better, especially considering I'm 15 and nobody wants to be seen wearing glasses. At first it took half an hour to put them in but now I can do it in seconds. I recomend you get it, especially if you do sports like me.

I have monthly contacts. At first, it took me a while to get used to them. They're pretty easy to deal with, except when they get dry.

I wear glasses daily and contact lenses when I go out. It took me about an hour to get used to how put them on and off. It gets easier with time. So I just wear mine once and throw them out. However sometimes my eyes get tired if I wear them for like a full day.
