All I can say is that I started writing it a year ago. I have two visions for it and they’re very separate. I almost feel like putting out two albums, but that’s probably not essential. I want it out as soon as possible. I don’t know when as soon as possible is. I just want it to be fabulous first and then release it.

Interviewer: What about this second album? Why’s it keep getting pushed back?
Marina: Well, I have to write it first! I think people have really unrealistic expectations. It’s April now, I only just finished touring in December. I’m not a pop star who gets people to write for me, I write everything myself. I’m an absolute perfectionist so I’m not putting anything out until it’s ready. Maybe we’ll hear something in October but I think album-wise it’s going to be February [2012] if I’m realistic.

Interviewer: You’ve had song leaks. While it’s flattering, does it hinder your process?
Marina: Yeah, a bit. Because it’s more the idea that someone has invaded my privacy. I know it’s part of being in the public eye, but I think having things stolen from you and people targeting you … it’s weird. From one side you feel glad people want to hear your stuff, but on the other side, the people who obtain the stuff are horrible characters. It’s really hindering you being creative. You shouldn’t be worried about leaks, you should be worried about making a song fantastic.

Marina: Yes and no. It’s funny with the modern age. You get to hear from the artists about what the album’s going to be. Really, the album hasn’t been birthed yet. In the beginning I was like, yes, it’s going to be about sex and feminism. But after writing [one song] I was so sick of the subject that I didn’t want to write any more songs like that (laughs). A lot of it is about men and women. I don’t know if I’d call it feminism though. I think I’d call it… life (laughs).

I saw her live a few weeks ago, she seems to be remaining tight lipped on the album, I don't think we'll get much until the end of the year. I'm hoping for a spring release.

I lovelovelove her first album SO much but I'm not impressed with what I've heard so far this album (Jealousy, Living Dead). I'm VERY curious to hear what she would sound like with Dr Luke. But a stronger part of me reallly doesn't want her working with someone so generic.

I'm glad there are other Marina stans. I'm going to be spending a lot of time in here

I mean I want Marina's music to progress along and change, but at the same time I want her to uphold the quality of her first album. Taking the easy way out, and getting a generic hit is not the way to go for her. It works for some artists, depending on what type of music they make, but not all...
