Girls wearing heels at 5/young fashion discussion
What do you guys think about girls wearing heels at a young age? Suri Cruise wore her heels before five. I personally wouldn't let my daughter (unless she wanted to), but only because I don't want her feet to cause any problems when she's older. But then again, if that's the style for five year olds...
I went back to my old elementary school the other day and seeing everyone with cell phones, preppy outfits, etc... I thought I was in high school, and everyone was the mini version. Everyone literally has "style". The females all carry purses, etc. When I was in elementary, people would freakin wear Spongebob T-Shirts and they would think they're cool.
Also edit - they wear makeup as well. It does not look good at all.

I agree. I hate when people think because young females are wearing heels they'll grow up to be ****s, or like something said in a different thread, "Paris Hilton". If you watch shows like America's Next Top Model, most of the girls there are genuinely nice, and a lot of them most of the time mentions "oh plzplzplz I really want this ever since I was younger, I would always put on heels, makeup, etc!" Did they grow up to be a ****? Nope.

If she likes wearing heels, then it's okay.
If her mother picked those out for her ?

Yep. It's funny because my cousins are always like to me (at the time) "You're only in middle school, and all you guys are now starting to buy $200 pair of shoes, wear make up, carry cell phones etc. You guys are growing up TOO FAST!" and I was like uh no. It's normal.
A few years later, my cousin (elementary) tells me everyone goes to the mall, shopping, have cellphones, etc... I tell her she's growing up too fast. She says no. But then I realized I remember I was in her situation before. Every generation is growing up too fast.

Yeah! My cousin used to tell me that she didn't get a cell-phone until her Junior year of High School and **** like that, and I ended up getting a cell-phone my first year of Middle School and she would go on and on about how kids grow up too fast these days, lol.

She looks cute, and not sexualized at all though.
I'm okay with that.

I don't really give a **** about little kids wearing heels, but it seems the real fun of being a kid is lost these days. Children want cell phones, computers, and fancy clothes these days. Back when we were children, all we need was our imagination, a couple of toys, and a nice yard to play around in.

It's conditioning your daughter of what a "woman should be," in terms of appeal.. sex appeal. It's just off to me. Maybe I'd just be a strict dad because my girl sure as hell ain't wearin' heels at 5 or makeup until she's AT LEAST 15. No sex until she's married... and I WILL install an ankle bracelet to keep them drinks at bay.
 I wish I was lyin'.

I actually made a reference to your post. Anyway, to your other comment about condition what woman should be like... The thing is, if she dressed Suri up wearing big clothing (or "tomboy"), she would have been criticized for it.

Example: Angelina Jolie went through this process, and she actually had to defend herself to the media on why she is dressing her daughter like a tomboy.
Another example is Gwen Stefani and her son Kingston.

She let her son wear nail polish and the media gave her crap for it.

Yeah, to us, it's normal, but to our cousins/elder, it's not.
But then I give my younger cousin crap for wanting to have cellphones, but then I realized that her generation, that's probably "standard", just like how our time, cellphone was "standard". Growing up too fast

Heels are bad...especially with developing feet. I'm okay with it if she's wearing it on special occasions...but not for long periods of time. And about the makeup...what's the use for it? Who is she trying to impress at 5?

They look like they want to be old, let them live like little girls with their dolls or whatever they want, and dress with colorful clothes, not with something they will wear forever, starting at 30 (or if they wants to look old enough for their age, at 20+).

I agree a 100% with what Angelina said. She's right. You can't tell your kids how to dress or act, that's why so many of us grow up really insecure.
I'll say this again, Suri looks like she's into fashion and people should let her be. She looks cute, and it's not like she's wearing GaGa's heels.
