I would like to get people's opinions on their favorite indie releases of the year so far. What's your biggest surprise this year? Is there an album you are still anticipating? Who will be the Arcade Fire of 2011?

I'll start by asking for your opinion on the band ****ed Up. Their new album David Comes to Life has gotten rave reviews. While I'm not a fan normally of vocalists who do a lot of screaming, there's something about this album ("The Other Shoe" especially) that resonates with a guy who listens to Radiohead and Lady GaGa. I think the female vocals on the track really makes thhe song work as well as it does. Check it out below.

i really like the Geographer album. kites is amazing.

I haven't heard the Geographer album I'll have to give it a listen. As for best release indie release so far I would have to go with tUnE-yArDs' album w h o k i l l. I am still blown away by that record months after it's release

My favorite indie release has been Tennis' Cape Dory. Ten tracks, just magical. Really recommended.

I agree. I remember listening "Marathon" and I remember I didn't like it that much, but when I checked "Take Me Somewhere", I just fell in love with that song. Then I checked he album and I fell in love with it too.
