Ignorance: David Tyree opposes Gay Marriage
More ignorance another day:

Quote:
Check out the interview below from the former Giants player below:
Why did you decide to speak up for marriage?
Do our fans mean more than our position in eternity? I believe marriage is a reflection — Marriage is the only relationship that mirrors a relationship with God. It’s very unique in that way. So I am disappointed when there’s not enough guys who dethrone their platform and cast down their crowns to lift up something as honorable and near to God’s heart as marriage.
What message does gay marriage send?
It sends [the message] that you don’t need a mother or a father. That has to be one of the loudest messages that ring[s] forth. I know this, I was impacted severely — my father was in my life — but I was impacted severely because he wasn’t in the home. Then you have father’s in the home, but it’s almost like they’re not in the home, and that’s impacting on a child. This is what I do know, you can’t teach something that you don’t have, so two men will never be able to show a woman how to be a woman. That’s just simple, for lack of a better term, common sense. I’m not political. I approach more from an angle of prayer. As much as people are going to voice their opinions and make those pushes in a negative direction, I feel like athletes, believes, or people who are very strong towards marriage, especially in places of position, need to really take this opportunity to voice it. I think we’re doing ourselves a great injustice, as well as those Christians or believers, we’re doing God an injustice by not making his heart known to our country.
When dads are absent what do boys learn about how to be a man?
Our society permeates those three things, for men especially…sexual conquests, economic prowess. They’re extremely unfulfilling. At the height of my moment that actually lead me I realized I had athletic prowess, sexual conquests…at a very young stage, you know, economically well in my early career. I was at the lowest point of my life, it was extremely unfulfilling. Not to say that they’re all bad thing in and of themselves, but if they’re at the central focus of our being and that’s the message that we’re sending our children, you’re setting up to live unfulfilled, purposeless lives.
What will happen if they pass the gay marriage bill?
If they pass this gay marriage bill….I guess you can say my peace is in God’s sovereignty. But what I know will happen if this comes forth is this will be the beginning of our country sliding toward…you know, it’s a strong word, but anarchy. The moment we have, and if you trace back even to other cultures, other countries, that will be the moment in which our society in itself loses it’s grip with what’s right. I do believe that there is right and wrong. I do believe that there is good and evil. I believe that many things are subjective but I don’t believe that truth is. Marriage is one of those things that is the backbone of society. If you redefine it, it changes the way we educate our children, it changes the perception of what is good, what is right, and what is just.

There are so many faults with his reasoning. Because Canada, Spain, Uruguay, and other countries with gay marriage are anarchy filled. Right…
And SMH @ him putting on a fronting... like we don't know what goes on in the locker room.

Right!!! Ignorance is bliss.
When people speak judgment against other people, even though they shouldn’t according to the Bible (Matthew 7:1; Luke 6:37, etc) , they should back it up with Scriptual truths, not personal opinions. Mr. Tyree states that, “marriage is the backbone of our society,” when God clearly states that His Kingdom is not here on earth, these are not his laws, we should abide by God’s word, not mans (Romans 12:1-2). Anyone wanting to know how God feels about marriage find Scriptual truths to live in His light too. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. And at the end of the day God loves all his children and everyone has the opportunity to be forgiven for any sin they commit against God’s word (2 Timothy 1: 7-8)

How is this news? I don't know this person, and could not care less about his views. Open a thread when someone important speaks.

First of all he sounds like a pompous ass but it makes me kind of sad to read his opinions on this matter because he sounds like one of those people who grew up in a religious family that looked down upon gay people and he just took over those views without the slightest bit of reflection or thoughts of his own. His arguments are straight from the guidebook on how to be a strict and oppressive dad from the 1950s

Yeah, most football players especially are actual idiots. I'm probably going to close it. It's like asking a **** star's opinion on something topically relevant.

It's REALLY sad. My parents weren't necessarily judgmental but they always used to make little comments about people they didn't know but didn't like. They weren't crude or horrible or anything, but I've reflected on that quality about them and decided not to be that way because I don't feel you should judge someone thoroughly until you feel you know them well enough to do so. I honestly have COMPLETELY different views than my parents do and I don't understand when people don't ponder and reflect on their parents' ideals before adopting them.
