I've been home-schooled all through Highschool and I'm graduating soon. I never been to a prom or homecoming. I have people telling me i missed out on some of the best years of my life. Is High school really all that? Especially being gay. Do you miss it? Was it fun? or was it one of those Love/Hate things?

Love Hate kinda thing.. You get to meet some amazing people that'll develop into amazing memories

Then again classes and work suck..

I was homeschooled for 7th and 8th grade and I hated it. I wanted to get out so bad. I'm happy I did. I am now a freshman in high school so I can't give to much input but so far I absolutely love it. Its great meeting the new people and all the friends I've made so far. Its a blast. You really did miss a lot And you get more opportunity because you have more resources like the teachers and principals. More chances for scholarships etc..

Depends. You meet lots of new friends, but there could be lots of drama that comes with it!

But either way, it's still an experience that you definitley learn from, and it's something not even a teacher can teach you

8th grade was a rough year for me. So my parents found it best to try homeschooling. I went to public school from 1-8th grade. So its kinda of haunting thinking about what my highschool experience could've been like.

I hate school.
They ruin everything.

I'm a freshman and this year has arguably been my favorite year of school, ever. I know that might not be what you want to hear, but honestly I love high school. I've taken notice that I've become a lot less self conscious, and I could really give a **** less about what people think of me. It's definitely been tough, but you learn to move thru the tough things and you forget about stupid drama like a week after it happens.

You get to interact with people your age and develop social skills. But everyones high school experience is different. I've never been bullied, never dealt with drama ect .But I do understand kids doing homeschooling because they have dealt with bullying in school.

The kind of education that you have after being homeschooled is probaby sufficient trade-off for the lack of social experience. The school systems suck.

There is nothing special really. I was told when I graduated I would miss it...
But now, 4 years later I only miss my friends from high school.... and nothing else really.

True, Homeschool is miserable at times... but it gave me alot of time to think on my own thoughts and to have my own opinion on things without any outside influences...

To me, most people I know would say all you have to do is get through the first year of High School and the rest gets nothing but better.
My freshman year was probably my worse years in H.S. because I was failing/cutting, getting into trouble, in and out the hospital and was on the verge of suicide. After I matured and got through some hardships the only thing I ever had to worry about is school work and had fun from sophmore through senior year. I've been stressed but nothing real serious since then.

That could just be me...

This. And high school was alright, and you did miss some things, but not enough to where you should let it bother you really bad.

Wow.. I never knew it could be that extreme.

Almost the same exact thing happened to me . My parents had gotten a nasty divorce during my freshman year and I had little to no interest in school . After I started to show up and get to know people, it gradually got better .

It's an overall fun, interesting experience and I've learned a lot of life lessons lol .
