No. You got it wrong. The whole debate is there because the media puts so much emphasis on it being a choice, which ties it into it being something sinful or something to be ashamed about.
When gays struggle with their sexuality and everyone says "It's a choice!!! You choose that way." Gay struggle with this insecurity within themselves and go through an on-going battle, because of how if it really was a choice, shouldn't they be easily to cover up their same sex attraction and be straight? Live a the "normal" life and not pursue the so called "sinful" lifestyle?
That's why teens kill themselves because they shove it in their face saying it's a choice and teenagers struggle with the comprehension of if it really is a choice, why can't I change it? So they conclude, they are a mistake and kill themselves.
But to your extent, I agree, who cares if it's a choice or not. We need to quit generalize gay community and accept them for who they were meant to be. Don't want to get into the debate of religion, but in the end, it ties up with religion. If religion was never introduced to us, this wouldn't even be a problem in our society, but here we are...
