No......you can't compare the first one(with no fan base) with this installment.....

It may even have a harsh drop second week as most of the slasher film did

It's a great movie, thats all that matters. But I'm really surprised it underperformed like this.

Though it is under performing, Scream was initially a flop as well. A lot of people will think it will be **** based purely on it being the third sequel, and the last one wasn't exactly amazing, which doesn't help.

Once word gets around that the movie isn't bad, im sure it'lll have longevity like the original did (maybe not as much though). It's a whole new generation of moviegoers.

I like Rio better than Scream 4.
However, i think scream 4 is entertaining. Didn't expected it to perform like this
