Of course sometimes tracking is off, and Scream 4 will for sure win Friday night, but it should be a fun race for the #1

Well, of course Rio is going to take it. It's Happy Feet 2.0 basically, and it's rated PG and a kids movie. I think it looks terrible, but it's going to beat Scream 4 unfortunately. It has a lot of hype around it. That's okay, though. Scream opened at #4 when it came out, and went on to make like $160 million!

It's an animated movie about birds.. I don't know what it's about but that's the basics.

The movie has a promo song 'Telling The World' by Taio Cruz, and has gotten good promotion from the application 'Angry Birds Rio', the third edition of the Angry Birds games on iTunes, which are actually one of the biggest sellers (and both the original and the Rio version are in the top 5.)

Even if Scream 4 comes in at 2 I still think it will to about 30-40 million for opening weekend which is pretty damn good.

Scream has a built in franchise which has an advantage but with Hop being a major success Rio could continue that trend.

I will say the promotion and advertising for both is pretty damn strong , I see commercials for both on like every channel.

The hype for Scream 4 is high, so it's possible. Scream 2 & 3 sold $32/$34 million in their first weekends, respectively.

I'm hoping Scream 4 is able to sneak up and claim #1

There are also several sources where box office tracking indicates that Scream 4 can hit over $50 million it's opening weekend.

So it'll be interesting to see. I happen to think Scream 4 is going to open big and then probably fall down each subsequent weekend, but will still reach over $100 million.

Yeah, I don't understand the first quote either. Anyway, it won't matter. Scream 4 is going to open BIG in the US and everywhere else. It has a lot of hype around it, and I don't think the movie will be a total flop critically, either. It doesn't look like crap.

And btw Rio is great. One of the best animated films I've seen. I had a good laugh and its almost better than UP and TOY STORY 3. I'm not impressed with the ending though.
