The White House today proposed sweeping revisions to U.S. copyright law, including making "illegal streaming" of audio or video a federal felony and allowing FBI agents to wiretap suspected infringers.

In a 20-page white paper (PDF), the Obama administration called on the U.S. Congress to fix "deficiencies that could hinder enforcement" of intellectual property laws.

The report was prepared by Victoria Espinel, the first Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator who received Senate confirmation in December 2009, and represents a broad tightening of many forms of intellectual property law including ones that deal with counterfeit pharmaceuticals and overseas royalties for copyright holders. IKR? Let us live our lives for gods sake.

In Germany we are not allowed to watch official music videos. I think thats painful enough. Leave me alone with all that copyright stuff.

What? Why?

There is this agency called GEMA. Most of the artists worldwide (especially the majore ones) are member of the GEMA.

The GEMA is giving the artist money for every spin on the radio, festival and so on.

Now the GEMA is saying: Ok. If you play the Official Music Video, it's like a radio-spin.

And YouTube is not here to pay money for every screening. So we germans aren't able to watch them in a legal way (we use hidemyass.com and other proxy-sites)

I always use dailymotion or vimeo.

Still...this is a mess here.

It's insane. Whatever I view on YouTube or download on FrostWire or Zune could be made illegal.

how can I live without Youtube ?????????????
