Selena Gomez has reportedly been left "terrified" by a hate campaign started by fans of rumored boyfriend Justin Bieber.

Star Magazine claims that the Wizards Of Waverly Place star has received death threats from jealous 'Beliebers' as speculation about her relationship with the 'Baby' singer continues to grow.

The situation is believed to have intensified since the pair were pictured together at a Vanity Fair Oscars party last month.

A source said: "Selena's terrified. She's only young and when she sees things written about her, she understandably freaks out. Justin tries to reassure her, but what can he do?"

Gomez confirmed in a KIIS-FM interview with Ryan Seacrest last week that her latest single 'Who Says?' was written in retaliation to "haters".

She explained: "Within that world, there's just such easy access to people's feelings. This song is such a great message to my fans, and it really touched me when I heard it. Basically, it's to the haters, it's to the people who try to bring you down."
