Avril Lavigne Joins Bon Jovi and Michael in Japanese Record
Quote:
Avril Lavigne's Goodbye Lullaby will enter The Billboard 200 next week, but it's already #1 in Japan. It's the first non-domestic album to top the Japanese chart since Bon Jovi's The Circle in November 2009. Lavigne's last studio album, The Best Damn Thing, spent two weeks at #1 in Japan in April 2007. Lavigne is one of just three international acts to top the Japanese album chart with multiple albums since 2004. Bon Jovi leads the pack with three #1 albums in that time. Michael Jackson and Lavigne follow with two.
@greenyeyedsoul Mariah had an album that sold 3,400,000 in Japan. Avril's best seller sold 1,2 million. It's not about how many albums they released. Mariah and Madonna were more popular than Avril in their prime in Japan.

And now their old, and Avril has taken their thrown as queen of Japan
And of course they sold more in an age where record sales were very high.

Well they might be old but in the 2000s only Madonna was the most successful international female of 2005, 2006 and 2008 and the most successful international artist of 2008 in Japan. Hard Candy sold 300,000+ and Miles Away 850,000+.
But right now Avril is the QUEEN in Japan I agree.
