Should artists have the choice of signing a new contract for every new album/era rather than every 4 or 6 albums? I think its better for many artists. That way if they dont get along with a label, they can sign with another label as soon as their current era is over.

They get payed before doing the albums and usually millions and millions of dollars (if they are already sucessful estabilshed artists) so I doubt they would like that (altho yes, there are artists that are frustrated in their label and would like to leave) it depends.

It wouldn't make sense, because there would then be no continuity in the control of album releases.

It's ideal, but it would not work out logistically.

No because let's say an artist sign up for 4 albums

Album #1: great success
Album #2: moderate success
Album #3: big commercial flop
the artist would still get a chance to record and release Album #4 and hope sales pick up

But if the deal is only for one album, then this artist would not get a deal after a flop album
