News: Female reporter suffers on-air stroke after Grammys

Serene Branson, a Los Angeles television news reporter, fueled a Web video seen around the world on Sunday night when she incoherently stumbled through a live stand-up report after the Grammy Awards.

The video began to make the rounds on the Web early Monday morning as people began to share what they thought was just a funny clip of a television reporter struggling to form her words.

But on a second listen, it becomes clear that something was very wrong with Branson, leading to speculation that she may have had an on-air stroke.

It’s not clear at all what Branson, a reporter for CBS affiliate KCBS-TV, was trying to say during her live shoot.

(FOX News) - An entertainment reporter at the local CBS station in Los Angeles alarmed viewers Sunday night when she flubbed her words and started speaking gibberish during a live broadcast from the Staples Center after the Grammy awards, FOXNews.com reported Monday.

KCBS-TV's Serene Branson was reporting on the awards ceremony when she apparently stumbled on the word "heavy" and began speaking in nonsensical words. Many viewers were concerned that she had possibly suffered a stroke during the live broadcast.

On Monday morning, KCBS released a statement saying: "Her vital signs were normal. She was not hospitalized. As a precautionary measure, a colleague gave her a ride home, and she says she is feeling fine this morning."

British newspaper The Telegraph reported that Branson had been hospitalized following her broadcast, noting that "strokes can cause speech problems in different ways, either by interfering with the brain's ability to recognize and construct words, or by preventing the facial muscles from forming syllables correctly."

Branson was examined by paramedics outside Staples Center after she was off the air.

Even though the doctors said that it wasn't a stroke, talking gibberish is definitely a sign of at least a mild stroke. She looked scared.
