This sucks for her and I shall pray for her and her family, but for those following the Egypt revolt you should know about certain groups' hostility towards media pundits. It's well documented that there were several Egyptians who weren't pleased with the media exposure which occurred. The government and several Egyptians felt the media were covering too much of the bad going on out there rather than the good.
For example, when there were riots from thugs who committed heinous crimes in the name of or because of the revolt. Some Egyptians felt the media covered too much of the bad rather than the good that was going on throughout the protests. Instead of being the carrier for their message to the rest of the world, they were being vilified for the actions of the vast minority in the revolt.I can't remember if it was CNN or ABC, but they didn't a back story on the dangers of reporters being in Egypt covering the stories out there. Cab drivers were too scared to be the transportation system for the media because they were afraid for their lives if stopped by a bunch of thugs who were on a warpath for reporters.
It's a shame thugs and extremists like the group that attacked Lara and Anderson Cooper will only made horrid name for the Egyptians. They represent only a small minority of the people who protested in order for freedom and change to prevail. I truly wish Lara the speediest recovery both physically and mentally. Sexual assault and by a group at that can be traumatizing.
