That's hardly a bomb. It's recouped it's budget so just because it's not a huge blockbuster hit doesn't make it a bomb.

Comedies like that usually underperform these days. It's weird. They were never massively successful to begin with, but that genre is really sinking. It's a shame cause the cast is on point. Jason Bateman (dad), Kate McKinnon, Jennifer

That guy is a famous box office analyst. He knows what he's talking about. The studio only recoups half of the gross. It cost $45m to produce and at least another $30m to market. It's a flop.

it was released kinda late for a Christmas themed movie, but it did well in its first couple weeks right? i mean it's kinda obvious it would start freefalling after the holidays

This also doesn't include advertising costs which I'm sure nears the production budget. So assuming that's the case, it'd need to make at least $100 mil to break even.

Romantic Comedies are all the same at this point. It's to to move on or find a fresh, new concept that isn't cheesy 00's style of movie that everybody has already watched with their mom on TV.

Weird. For someone so widely beloved by both men and women across so many demographics, Aniston stays having one of the worst career track records for an A-lister, like, ever. Her career is mainly in endorsements. She can push women to drink Smart Water and slather themselves in Aveeno lotion and make them fantasize about flying first class on Emirates while applying Xiidra eye drops, but she cannot carry a movie. It's getting ridiculous at this point.

It's not really her fault Paramount invested 60 million on a seasonal movie of a dying genre. The odds were against them and it was a risk anyway. How many comedies of this kind have crossed 150m this year? Bad Moms, Ghostbusters and...?

There's no way in hell this was a 30 million dollar marketing job
