Why do people on social media keep saying this? Why was 2016 a "bad" year? It seems like anyone who disregards this and claims 2016 was a good year are dragged
Shouldn't every one have a different experience both good or bad? Why is everyone on social media in agreement 2016 was a bad year?
Cause it was awful, events wise, not just the celebrity deaths and all that...but on the other hand, music was thriving and we experienced slayage a la 2006
I think the ones who scold others for saying it was a good year forget that we each have personal lives. Celebrity deaths don't affect all of us to the same degree, if at all. The election and terrorism can be a separate discussion but we each still experience things differently in our lives and we shouldn't be mad at others if they enjoyed it.
Personally, 2016 was a bad year but not because of celebrity deaths. I don't mean to sound harsh but celebrities die every year and they don't know or care about who we are. If you base your enjoyment of a year on celebrity deaths then there's something very wrong with you.
If you, personally, had a good year, congratulations on not being affected by the hate crimes, economical disasters, shootings, political trainwrecks and Brexit, Aleppo, and the like which pretty much objectively make 2016 a bad year. Celebrity deaths were not the only thing that happened this year.
It was a very turbulent year for me. Despite going on vacation in the beginning of the year, I experienced multiple brutal hate crimes which were damaging mentally, physical and emotionally. Politically it was also trash. I lost so much naivety and become jaded so it was a learning experience.

You build a bridge and get on with life to make the most of it instead of trying to let events affect you before, should it ever, happen to you
Because left media like buzzfeed makes you think that way, 2016 wasn't that bad for most people unless you were leaving in Aleppo.
It was just another year with its pros and cons.
