I play the game daily and it's a waste of time and money. The only new Pokémon that's even easy to get is Pikachu with a Santa hat on.

It actually hasn't left the top #150 since its release, something none of the other "fads" have achieved.

I haven't played that game in months.

It has never left the top 10 on the top grossing list since release.

Mario is still much bigger than Pokemon and can sell more games

both are very global and have great longevity though Nintendo never loses!

Not when Mario is the best selling video game series of all time by a LONG shot and can still sell consistently and get universal acclaim

Mario Run is super fun. I just finished beating the game:

* Beat all levels
* Got the Pink, Purple, and Black coins on all the levels
* Completed all 3 bonus levels
* Got 9999 toads in Toad Rally

It was worth the $10.

Still, it was super lame of them to pass this off as free with an optional in-app purchase. You can play the first 3 levels in 6 minutes. The backlash for this move was deserved.
