Will One Sweet Day's record ever be broken?
mimi and boyz II men's song "One Sweet Day" has the record of the longest #1 single in the USA; 16 weeks. it has held this record for 20 years.
why is it that literally every song that threatens this song's record always gets hexed? and why has no song ever ran for 15 weeks?

Yes, when sales are taken out of the equation it will become much easier for a song to stay on top longer.

Probably. A couple have gotten close, so it's not impossible.

Yes. Considering the number of songs that have come close in the last few years alone, I have to imagine it'll probably happen sooner rather than later.

It could happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's never beat. A lot of it has to do with luck (a long-running #1 having no new competition)
