How has American culture influenced you?
This obviously directed to people living outside of the US.
Our culture is probably the most prevalent and most widely viewed culture because of TV, movies, social media, etc. My question is is how has any of this influenced you if it has, or if you've ever wondered anything about our culture or Americans in general? This came up when I was talking to my cousin in Italy and she was telling me about how they threw an "American party" with red solo cups and at someone's house instead of going out clubbing and that it was really fun.

American culture has had a major impact on me, on my life on the way that I think, the way that I speak, dress, etc.
I think the Netherlands in general has been very 'Americanised".

I don't really know what American culture is so I don't know how that has or hasn't influenced me.

Entertainment mainly; television, music, websites, pop culture, etc.
But also the American elections were a huge topic here.
And if there were something big to happen in America it's most likely big news here as well (terrorist attacks, social movements, scandals) but if it were the other way around idk if that would be the case.
It's funny tho, I feel like everyone knows American culture, language and lifestyle but everyone here also has their own culture, language and lifestyle and I feel like Americans don't have that? Like when I was in Cali I would talk Dutch and no one would know what I was saying to my brother, I liked that feeling, but Americans must never have that.

That's really interesting that all the news here is news over there
To speak on what you said about us not having our own subcultures, we definitely do. I live in Miami and it's as far apart of American as you can get while still being in the US. Most people here speak Spanish and English or just Spanish, and we also have completely different lifestyles than most Americans (food, religion, family, nightlife). And I can't speak for black people but they also have their own culture

The Netherlands has been one of the most 'Americanised' European countries tho.
English is our second language anyway and we have an extremely multi-cultural society (most foreigners being South-American).

It has no culture. Unless this is about materialism and fast food causing obesity.

American culture made me accept being gay, not gonna lie. The only way I could discover about sexuality was with (mostly) American media, which helped me from suicide in depression back in 2012.
Now I am happy person, so thank you gay agenda America!

Well Hollywood and the American music business have made a huge impact on me. They made me fall in love with the American lifestyle, horror films, Halloween and the music business. Those are some of my biggest passions.

Learning the English language, listening to American music and watching to American movies. Basically entertainment and language skills.
