Which was Beyonce's best idea?

a Music video for each song on the album ala Self-Titled
or
an entire film for the album with bits and pieces of the songs ala Lemonade

I really love the Lemonade film but it gets a little boring at times, ST videos were better imo

Lemonade wasn't really written as a cohesive body of work, so I don't really see a need to make an entire film incorporating all of the songs.

A cohesive project like Lemonade with a narrative > individual videos

Individual in most cases I've seen.

More attention goes to one video so it has rewatching power. I haven't rewatched any of Bey's newer videos because all of them sort of drag since she considered it as a whole body of work

I guess it just depends on a person's patience and whether they're a stan of that artist already or not, because if I was a Beyonce stan I definitely would have rewatched it a million times

Although Formation was the best video of 2016

They both fit their respective albums

BEYONCÉ had several themes running through it and it was cut into several narratives, so the videos reflected that. Lemonade is one single narrative so it makes sense that she turned it into an hour long film.

the songs weren't written by the same people and some were sent to her team as finished products so that would be quite the coincidence

It kinda was since she started working on it after the On the run tour.

Most of the videos on Lemonade do not stand up well when you view them alone. While it's cool to have a cohesive theme for an entire era, I don't think anyone has yet to wow me with an overarching visual era (don't @ me, Pink Floyd stans).

for example: Fairy Dust worked great with long form music video but Drake's visual album didn't
