How did ya'll do it? I'm literally crying trying to write a Theory of Knowledge essay right now

I didn't think they were that bad. ToK was the most ******** class I had ever taken. Every essay you can basically bring up the moral opinion of the majority, discuss the historical reason that influenced it, talk about the opinions of other cultures and their personal histories, propose your own ideology and you've got yourself an A.

i don't take that subject. I'm in a science major.

This whole TOK thing is so stupid for me. How do you propose a theory? How do you do anything?

We weren't given those options

The easiest thing to do is just discuss the question with about five different people. You're bound to get conflicting opinions. Then just develop one of those opinions while arguing why the other ones aren't as legitimate. ToK is more about knowing how to analyze an abstract concept than anything.

I was this close to do the IB Diploma here.

I know friends that are doing it and doing a goddamn subjects for the next two years is awful. It depends where you go to, all schools structure it differently.

Here SL is 2 years regardless and HL is obviously 2.
Here there is no Math HL so the highest Math is SL.
The sciences system in IB is this:
AP (Year1) -> IB (Year2)

Not me, but my cousin got 45 out of 42 somehow she started receiving scholarship offers afterwards

I completely BS'd my ToK essay and still got 43. It's irrelevant if you worked hard on your Extended Essay.

My school doesn't offer IB, just AP.

same ToK really doesn't matter all that much in the long run.

I was in the program for 2 years before my high school took it away. I wasn't that pressed about it because some of the work (Maths and Sciences) gave me a headache lol. I finished my HS career in AP.

I'm a hater of IB. My high school offered it and the IB students were treated as an elitarian group. The people taking this program from my school were the most pretentious bubs I've come to meet in my life.

Oh my god yes, like 10 years ago. It must have changed since then since I never had to take a Theory of Knowledge class. Is that new? Also, do you still have to do Personal Project in your last year?

My experience with the whole program was that, while the actual subject matter is close to useless, the work ethic it instills in you puts you leaps and bounds ahead of your peers. University was a joke

This was true of my school too. We were the only group of students any of the teachers had any faith in. Of course, then there were the elites within the program itself. I remember on year we had a visit from the HQ and my school had sent all of the less desirable IB students home for the day so as not to tarnish the image. I was selected to guide one of the guests and we were accosted in the hallway by one of the undesirables who then proceeded to expose what the school had done.

I think right now, all you need to do is to fulfill some criteria related to CAS as opposed to fulfilling mandatory CAS hours like before. But idk, i haven't got time to care for CAS since i'm focusing more on my IAs and exams.

It's the same thing here, everyone is included in a mega project + you need to join a club and participate in it's activities. But the secretaries will usually just do the templates for the CAS reports and all I have to do is ******** some reflections. But I haven't really done any of it tbh, it's just so cumbersome when you have so many more important things to focus on

Wrote my TOK Essay in about 3 hours the morning it was due. Got an A



Got a 39/45 on the diploma overall.

To be honest I just BS-ed my TOK essay and put a bunch of WoKs and AoKs and pretentious IB-specific terminology. If you do that, the examiner has to give you a minimum pass at least

For my school the core points predictions completely messed up on results day so just focus on your core subjects, I ended up with a 43 still

It's a super tough program but it'll be worth it once you're finished!
