Well? Can we blame the ideology? Or it's not the ideology, but the people to blame? How do some ideologies considered bad? Is it totally subjective or objectively bad to people? Let's hear your thoughts, ATRL

So you blame both the ideology that a group of people hold and also the people itself?

How is communism looked down upon so harshly? It's just a system. What if communism can be actually good if the people use/treat it differently? Wouldn't the problem be the people, not the ideology?

And why is secularism/liberalism generally considered good? Is it objectively good and people should adopt the same ideology, or it's subjective since people have different interests/way of thinking?

I was having an argument with a friend. I said that certain religion is wrong/to blame for all the riots here in my country. And he said that an ideology is just an ideology and you can't say that an ideology is bad because everything is subjective and people can hold whatever ideology they want and rather it's the people that's an issue, how they treat the ideology etc.

You're mostly a product of your environment. If you were raised to be a devout Christian or Muslim, or racist, you will carry that with you for the rest of your life. Sometimes, you can be saved by coming to terms with the outside world, which is why we get atheists who come from very religious families. Those are anomalies, though.

And also why we get Christians who come from very anti-religious families.

Ideologies are needed to conduce violent acts. People don't fight over nothing. Ideologies themselves, though, don't inherently lead to conflict. Most of the conflicts in history have been a result of clashes of different ideologies. Some ideologies which are highly flawed, however, can directly lead to suffering and death of millions as a natural consequence of its implementation, and not really due to atrocities perpetrated under its name. For example, a large portion of deaths that occurred under communist regimes was due to famine and diseases as a direct consequence of these governments' failed economic policies. Not all was carried out through genocide. Some seemingly peaceful and harmless ideologies can also be a major source of suffering and destruction like the democratization and secularization in non-western societies particularly in some Islamic and African countries. Saudi Arabia would probably be just another war zone in the Middle East if its current absolute monarchy were to fall. China has by far the most violent history of all nations in the world. If its communist goverment collapses in the future, it is not far-fetched to suppose that it will be the single bloodiest event in recorded history.
