PARAMARIBO - The Association of Full Gospel and Pentecostal churches in Suriname (Vveps) will Thursday with protest against the case for gender reassignment law.
Transgender yvanna Hilton filed a lawsuit in January, to get 'her' sex changed in the Central Registration Office (CBB) of man changed to female. Church leaders have already expressed their disapproval about this. Now they want to express their views more clearly.
Vveps Chairman Steve Meye says it is no intention to influence the court. "We are not pressuring the judge. We are just expressing our opinion, since we live in a democratic state." If the court decides in favor of Hilton, according to the spiritual "De hek van de dam" (which is a metaphor for unleashing the beasts).
He explains that the road below will be open for anyone to change the gender in the population later in life, which is also equal to fraud. Should the court nevertheless decide in favor of transgender, the association will "out of respect for law and justice" resign. "However, we will remain in protest," said Meye.
Attendees will gather Thursday at four o'clock in the afternoon at the Independence Square and make a circle in the center. During the course will be prayed for LGBT. "We will pray for them to release their lifestyle. We love them, but we don't accept their lifestyle, because it goes against God's Word and that's what counts," stresses Meye.
