"The Walking Dead" is the new "Dexter." It's all hype, with no substance. Everyone was hype over "Dexter," and then when "Dexter" ended, everyone trashed "Dexter" as if it was always a bad series -- for the record, "Dexter" was always a bad series, but the general public as a whole are, more or less, moronic, so they didn't realize that it was a bad series until the hype was over and the series ended.

The same fate will await "The Walking Dead." It's solely getting by on hype, 100% hype. However, the series itself is not good. All the characters make bad decisions. And, in terms of writing, if you're constantly writing characters to make the worst possible choices just to create conflict, then you're a bad writer and storyteller, and that's all "The Walking Dead" is right now, unintelligent characters making the worst possible decisions just for the sake of conflict. And that's why it's not being recognized by the Emmys or the Hollywood Foreign Press. Even "True Blood" and "American Horror Story" are more critically praised and awarded.

Alas, when the hype for "The Walking Dead" fades and the series ends, everyone will look back, and like they did with "Dexter," they will trash "The Walking Dead" for being a bad series, which it is, at this point. Human nature is so predictable.
