A former Atlanta high school student has filed a lawsuit claiming that he contracted herpes during a wrestling tournament in 2013.
Charles Ellis filed the lawsuit on November 17 against officials and agencies.
The 20-year-old's lawsuit claims that coaches and referees didn't properly inspect wrestlers and let him compete with an infected athlete, his attorney, Lee Davis told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC).

His lawsuit asks for an unspecified amount of money that will be determined at trial.
Davis told the AJC: 'There's so many people in this chain that just let him down.'
'To be honest, it was one of those things he was going to live with,' Davis said.
But while Ellis was on vacation at the beach he had a really bad flare-up of sores on his forehead.

According to the GHSA's constitution and bylaws, it is strongly recommended that 'wrestling mats be left unrolled during the competitive season, and be disinfected a minimum of three times per week with a medically-approved cleansing solution'.
'In the event an athlete develops a skin disorder or skin lesion that is considered contagious, the school must complete and provide the Physician's Release for Wrestler to Participate form.'
I remember this kid. It looks horrific. Just knowing that the opponent rubbed his sweaty infested junk across his face, is a nightmare. He probably remembers the very moment it happened

A lot of people have herpes, so normally I wouldn't call this that big of a deal but on his forehead though? That's awful. I hope he gets a few coins from this at the very least
