Are you serious? People are born a certain way, they shouldn't change it. If someone wants to stop being gay, it's obviously because society has always told them that being gay is not normal and bad, and they have given in that pressure. If conversion therapy exists, it's because the world is homophobic and still don't accept homosexuality.

It doesn't work and if they claim to be happy they are just lying to themselves, that isn't healthy. Fund legitimate mental health services not nonsense.

Because there is a ton of scientific evidence that it's completely ineffective and does nothing but create more psychological problems for the person.

This is like asking "why is cutting yourself bad?" Just because someone might do something voluntarily with the belief that it'll make them happier doesn't mean we should encourage it

Like no as a baby you're not attracted to men, or women either for that matter, because you're a baby. It's environmental. Nobody is born with a sexual attraction. But you develop one.

The ways in which they 'convert' you lead to a state of mind that is very close to dissociative identity disorder and is very unhealthy for one's emotional and mental wellbeing.

Because it's a waste of money, a scam. It's not possible to turn someone straight.

I don't mind voluntary. Just not for minors so parents can't force them.

I look at people who do conversion therapy the same way I look at people who bleach their skin or do heroine. It's sad and disappointing that you feel the need to do it, but at the end of the day I can't stop you and only hope you eventually find happiness before it causes irreversible harm.

Well, no one is going to be like "Welp, I'm striaght now so YAYY!!!1". It does not work. It doesn't cure anything. IT will only make those who choose to go through it disappointed and even more miserable.

There is no positive effect. Those people always end up messed up in the end, it's really harmful to your mind and overall thinking process. People should learn to love themselves for the way they are and not try and change something about them they don't like that is unchangeable.
