Gaga is one of a select few artists to sell over one million albums in one week. However, this huge accomplishment will always have an asterisk next to it: about 1/3 of Born This Way's first week sales came from the notorious Amazon deal selling the album for $1.
Similarly, Donald Trump's historic and unprecedented victory the 2016 US Presidential Election comes with a huge caveat: he lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by over 2 million votes - the greatest popular vote loss by a US President in American history.
Do these two moguls have more in common than we think? Is Donald Trump the political equivalent of Lady Gaga?
But I see your point so maybe like when Billboard changed the rules because of Gaga's BTW they will do the same with the rules of the US Elections for the year 2020 because of Donald.
I've thought about this since before he won, and it totally makes sense. They both worked the media to their will (at least in Gaga's early days) and are clear outsiders who shook things up. They were laughed at, fought against, but eventually won.
