She was seen tearing up in the audience as Selena Gomez spoke of her battle with depression at the American Music Awards this week.
And Lady Gaga has congratulated Selena for speaking so candidly about her inner turmoil, telling KIIS FM's Kyle and Jackie O that her speech was 'kind of like watching someone rip the shackles off their arms and unchain themselves.'
Chatting to the radio shock jocks on Friday, the Born This Way songstress gushed about courageous Selena's, saying: 'I found it very brave of her to stand up and speak about [depression].' 'I know her and I had a kindred excitement for her at that moment,' she explained. 'You don't always have to keep up a good face and a good front in order to succeed. What's most important is that on the inside you're OK because it's your heart that matters.' 'If you become obsessed with what people think about you, what it does is that it distracts you from your purpose. And then you become sad,' she explained.
"As artists we don’t want to let people down. I found it very brave of her to let it out and take the shackles off. You don’t always have to keep up a good front to succeed, what matters most is you’re okay inside. I applaud her."
Gaga has a soft spot for people who's been dealing with serious issues I love her and she's always showed selena love. Their selfie at the AMAs is everything
Selena's such an angel I am so happy that everyone in the industry is showing her love
this is so sweet & what she's saying is really important and true. I wish other artists would listen, particularly those suffering with mental illnesses.
