Madonna said in a 2009 Rolling Stone interview:
Quote:
"I've never been a good judge of what things are going to be huge or not. The songs that I think are the most retarded songs I've written, like 'Cherish' and 'Sorry,' a pretty big hit off my last album, end up being the biggest hits. 'Into the Groove' is another song I feel retarded singing, but everybody seems to like it."

Nick Cannon said in a 2012ish interview with Perez Hilton that Mariah was not a big fan of some earlier hits, Someday was cited specifically. I think she also said somewhere that she wasn't very fond of I Don't Wanna Cry.

Initially, Celine Dion didn't like My Heart Will Go On. When it was played for her by the composer, she signaled to her husband that she didn't like the song. He went ahead and arranged for her to cut a demo anyway, telling her he felt it could be an important record for her. She came around on the song after learning the story of the movie and what the song represented in that context. She went into the studio, recorded the demo vocal, and that ended up being the vocal on the final version.
