The GMP of NYC In 2014 was 1.55 trillion which is higher than the tenth wealthiest country in the world. When you add the rest of NY state its GMP could be higher than the 9th richest country in the world. Donald has threaten to suspend federal fund for NYC security, if they dont obey his stop and Fisk BS. New yorker as a result could stop paying Federal income taxes and has the right to succeed the US. If Trump try to bully NYC through his implementation of variously horrible policy would you be down with New York leaving the US (for at least temporary).

I love my NYC, but California would be #6. They also have good beaches, better weather, beautiful scenery, and no Long Island or Staten Island to be ashamed of. So... they win.

Long Island isn't even bad. Like half of it would be a beach resort. Especially the Hamptons.

And with things like the UN it would be extremely important to the world.

Upstate New York has tons of farmland and natural sources. Along with Niagra Falls. New York would do fine and wouldn't worry about drought.

I used to love Long Island (my cousins and two of my siblings live there), but lately it has become a hotbed of white supremacy (maybe I was naive and just noticed it recently). But you're right, it does have a few pretty towns, hamlets, and semi-OK beaches.

Niagara Falls is another plus. Upstate NY and may of its folks are a minus.

Which is funny because at one point Buffalo was one of the top 10 biggest cities in the US and was one of the first in the world to get electricity. It was a major city in the past.

CA will not survive as a country, as they are already running out of water really, really, really, really fast. And factor in the humongous population that it needs to satisfy thirst and other water needs. I just imagine Nevada and Arkansas closing off their pipes from Californian access. It'd be a mess.

Buffalo is such a disappointment. It had the potentially to be in the top 10 city in the world. It has Niagara Falls and only 55 minutes from Toronto and few hours from Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Michigan, Chicago and etch. I need someone to do a documentary on why buffalo flop so hard.

upstate ny is poor and full of rednecks. The only place relevant in ny state is nyc.

We have tons of jobs in NYC, and rent is high but not impossible to manage if you know where to look. Other cities in the state are not as bad when it comes to the cost of living.

Yeah, Cali's water sitchoo (and them quakes) are minuses.
