Ex-PCD Melody Thornton slams Robin Antin and Interscope
Quote:
She rose to stardom at the tender age of 18 when she joined famed group The Pussycat Dolls in 2003.
And Melody Thornton, 31, has now claimed the band's creator and record label forced her to become Nicole Scherzinger's back-up dancer, despite the fact that she had joined the group as a singer.
When asked whether it was difficult for her to learn how to dance at such late notice, Melody responded: 'It was a really really difficult process for me because I got into the group to sing'.
'Gears shifted, like quickly overnight. Nicole who was older than me, she had more experience, she had been in two groups prior'.
'They wanted to get our first album out immediately so they made Nicole get as much done as possible recording the first album, which I didn't like but I was like 'fine, we can do it'', she explained.
'But then they were like 'well you're going to have to dance'. It was pretty intense, it was really bad actually. If I didn't do it I was going home', she grimaced.
Melody has made no secret of her less-than-happy experienced, having admitted earlier this month that she was actually pleased when the band came to an end in 2010.
'I was look 'good, that's over!'' I hate to say that but I was [glad],' she revealed on The Morning Show.
'For me, I'm primarily a vocalist and a lot of people don't know that and so I got into the group and they said 'you're gonna be dancing' and I was like 'I can't dance!'
'And it was a really difficult time for me so when it was over I was like 'great, next chapter,'' she said.
The PCD's could have been insanely bigger if they had focused on the other girl instead of just Nicole. Poor them, messy management was their ultimate down fall.
Well, yeah, all of that is known. PCD had a messy ass dynamic, but man, their first era is one of the best things any girl group has ever delivered.
Still mad at Melody for doing NOTHING after the amazing mixtape she put out. She had label offers and everything, but even as an indie artist, she could have kept going. The girl literally gave up

they were already huge in their 2 eras
they just ended because none of the girls wanted to continue
They knew what they were doing sis, Nicole had the IT factor to lead, those other girls didn't
Yeah, the group would go nowhere with Melody as a lead. She wasn't even a trained singer and it would all look so odd
She was meant to play second fiddle to Nicole, that was her place and rightfully so. But they should have been less clumsy about it and actually give her more parts than just adlibs.
Melody definitely couldn't be lead. This is her trying to perform PCD songs on her own and sounding terrible:
But she sounded great as backup. They should have incorporated her more like in this performance (and even given the others a line or two to keep people happy):

and the others girls couldn't sing anyway
only nicole and melody doing some ad libs
They ended cause they were done with da bs dynamic of the group, they could have gone on to make a couple more albums. The lies tho, the other 3 girls are capable enough to do a hook or something smaller hehehe
