My biological father beat my mother and abandoned me when I was two. Two years later, my mother remarried to an African American man. He is a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force and has served 17+ years protecting his country. This man has raised me and instilled in me that no matter the color of another's skin, they are your equal and deserve to be treated as such. My father's life matters. Black Lives Matter.
