The issue at hand is Apple is acting like USB-C is being used by everyone.
If Apple have to sell dongles on their website for people to use a "Pro" Laptop, I can guarantee they are doing something wrong.

Look at the 'Mac Pro" currently on sale:
- 4 USB 3 ports.
- 6 Thunderbolt Ports
- HDMI port
- Headphone jack
- Mic jack.

That's a pro machine. What Apple SHOULD have done, is rolled out USB-C on the 2015 Retina remodel when they introduced it with the 12" MacBook. Have it as the charger port, and then keep the rest of the ports the same.

Let people adapt. And then issue the new laptop.

Also, lbr, Apple could have easily fit an SD slot on the new MacBook at least. That's what people miss the most, and anyone who uses a camera or video etc. uses them.

Reading is helpful. I have exactly 1 dongle. Other than that I don't use them at all. I don't need them. I'm endorsing full embrace of USB-C. Even the Android devices use USB-C as well as Chromebook Pixel. I thought presenting the argument from the PC side of things might sway a few people.

I'm a massive fan, but I hate Dongles. When USB-C becomes the norm, I'll buy.
Until then, I'll just update my current MacBook Pro 17" with an SSD and more Ram.

It's still super fast and has a GPU, unlike most of the new MacBooks.

The Chromebook Pixel also includes USB and an SD card slot.
The Chromebook Pixel is also a Netbook, that has more Pro Ports than the MacBook "Pro".

Also, the Chromebook Pixel is thinner than the MacBook Pro 2016, and managed to fit the ports.

Apple chose to release the 2015 MacBook with USB-C and Google the 2015 Chromebook Pixel.

The article I picked was written by a diehard MSFT fanboi who is usually highly critical of Apple's decisions.

So?

The MacBook Pro is not a Pro machine, if it needs a dongle just to attach an iPhone or iPad, let alone a USB, SD or HDMI port.

Literally, the cable that comes with your iPhone or iPad doesn't work with the laptop it's designed to hook up too

Like, a 'Pro" machine should be able to seamlessly connect to all the devices without needing a dongle.

I think this is the most tragic part about the whole thing tbh. Why would they yank away all the USB-A ports and yet equip the new iPhone with a freaking USB-A plug.
