If so what is the reason behind it? How has it affected your life?

When I'm off work I don't make eye contact with people at all. I have traumatic experience when I was child of my step dad hitting me because I made eye contact with him . He always said he hated seeing the sight of me. Now imagine a grown man hitting a 5 yr old child with his bare hands for the next couple years over and over, it's traumitizing to a child's mental health. Till this day I cannot get over it and I find it hard to find a relationship with another person because eye contact is the first step to break the ice when meeting someone.

I VERY RARELY make eye contact when talking to someone. I know it's something I should work on.

But if we look each other in the eyes, they might learn too much.

It is uncomfortable at first. Over time, I guess I got used to it.

I always look people in the eye. Especially when I say something important. I've made a habit of it.

People who dont make eye contact are weak

Eye contact is so important. Sometimes if I'm nervous while speaking to someone, I'll avoid making eye contact and not even notice... Once I realized I wasn't looking at someone, so I had my attention fixed on his eyes after.

When I'm stringing together my words I tend to look around or into the distance. But I always return to making eye contact every few seconds or so.

The only times I'll maintain full eye contact is when I'm flirting or when making a joke.
