Does anyone else not make eye contact with people?
If so what is the reason behind it? How has it affected your life?
When I'm off work I don't make eye contact with people at all. I have traumatic experience when I was child of my step dad hitting me because I made eye contact with him . He always said he hated seeing the sight of me. Now imagine a grown man hitting a 5 yr old child with his bare hands for the next couple years over and over, it's traumitizing to a child's mental health. Till this day I cannot get over it and I find it hard to find a relationship with another person because eye contact is the first step to break the ice when meeting someone.
Damn I thought I was the only one who felt this way When I usually talk to people, I obviously are hearing what they are saying, but I am mostly looking at the space between their eyes as well.
Eye contact is so important. Sometimes if I'm nervous while speaking to someone, I'll avoid making eye contact and not even notice... Once I realized I wasn't looking at someone, so I had my attention fixed on his eyes after.
I usually start out making eye contact when people are talking, but then I start thinking about how I'm looking at them in the eyes and then I can't make eye contact anymore. It's weird.
