I just learned that about half of Canada is French and am mind blown. Always thought it was a predominately English country.

I already knew that part of Canada is french but honestly nobody uses french Canada it's irrelevant.

According to the 2011 census, English and French are the mother tongues of 56.9% and 21.3% of Canadians respectively. Over 85% of Canadians have working knowledge of English while 30.1% have a working knowledge of French.
Besides that, of 10 provinces, only 2 have French as an official language (one of them is New Brunswick, which has English as co-official language).
So I guess Canada is not half French

They're French-speaking Canadians - not 'French' (unless you want to be English Australians) - or québécois. Not surprising to those of us who know basic geography.

that's FRANCOPHONE canadians. les canadiens francophones =/= les canadiens français.

America should have spoken French, Catalan or even Romansh but no we hot stuck with English. The Founding Fathers should have made English illegal. We still can now.
