The first half of the album is mostly a reinterpretation of Gaga, uptempo songs about love, hate and sex(kinda) that are approached in a different way both lyrically and instrumentally. But songs like Diamond Heart, John Wayne, Dancing In Circles, Perfect Illusion & A Yo are still very much Gaga, even Joanne is a balad that is very much to what we're used from her previous work, Speechless & Dope were extrememly personal ballads and so is this.
Then the second half starts with MR, a ballad about break ups with a very hopeful feel to it. Then songs like Come To Mama and Hey Girl, which are extremely inspiring songs about love for each other, come into place to give the album a completely different feel. Gaga went for personal strength in Born This Way but in these two songs she is inspiring people to love and care for each other. These two are trule extremely new ways of looking at Gaga. Then, we have what probably is the best song on the album Angel Down, a song about the world and the pain that we all feel when terrible things happen and we're all rather powerless just watching things unfold.
*Just reviewing the standard edition.
So, do you think this album is two in one, a more poppy side and a more message-inspired midtempo side?
