I noticed that Australia has really strong digital sales, but I was not aware that the album market there was as weak as it is. P!nk's feat is impressive, but it's not like she had to sell much to accomplish it.

Its not really weak overall, even though 2010 was kinda slow. The albums market is actually proportionately bigger than the US market, if you factor in the population.

P!nk's previous album sales are more than impressive:

Funhouse: about 820k (11x Platinum)
I'm Not Dead: Over 800k (11x Platinum)

but why is she so popular in Australia? it's kinda random. a greatest hits album becoming the best selling of the year in a few months is incredible...

Compared to UK sales they are very low when you factor population. The UK population is 3x Australia's. So 200k in Australia would be about 600k in the UK. 11 Albums sold over 600k in the UK last year, the #1 album sold 1.8 million copies.

I agree, her previous album sales were incredibly impressive.

Good job Pink!

Its ridiculous how popular she is in Australia. I mean, I understand Susan Boyle/Robbie Williams/Take That's popularity in UK or some Japanese popstar's popularity in Japan etc but she's not even an aussie....and she's breaking all these records in concerts, album sales, DVD's etc and the media simply looooves her.

Btw, Funhouse reached 7x platinum in 2009 when it was on the chart at approx the same amt of time as her GHSF , so if it was a regular album, she would have sold a lot more.
