I like Gaga and i think she's very talented and yes she should not be put in a box or work with old producers to make Bad romance and poker face part 2 but I don't see her as someone who's evolving I mean artpop was horrible a big step down from her past work and it was nothing evolving about the album it was just weird and from what we heard from Joanne it looks like it just might be worst than artpop I understand she wants to try new things but is it really evolving when you're music is getting worse throughout the years?
Not really. Perfect illusion is very basic and uninspiring, hence why it's underperforming badly. She should just do acting honestly.
Little monsters always says "it sounds nothing like anything on the radio " yes it doesn't because it sounds worse than anything they playing on the radio every risk is not a good one and every risk she has taken since artpop has not been good honestly.

anyway, yes and no. I think shes evolving as an artist generally speaking. I think she tries new things and takes risks. but I also think she no longer has her finger on the pulse of what works. ARTPOP overall was not an abysmal mainstream pop record. it was nothing more than adequate from a less substantial set of options. but it was a far cry from what shes capable of, and Joanne could have been a step in the right direction but imo theres just a lot of really interesting female artists making really cool music with high level music videos and gagas just been off in her own world that isnt particularly interesting. I still love and respect her as an artist but im kind of done ever expecting her to make something as dope as The Fame Monster again. Because she really just doesnt want to make a pure pop record which she obviously does so well. The direction she took for a portion of Born This Way, all of ARTPOP, and now Joanne just doesnt interest me.
Joanne songs so far makes it sound like something to feature on Hannah Montana. I guess pop culture was really in art now arts in pop culture in #Joanne
My whole thing is before you take a risk make sure the music is good because that's the only thing that matters at the end of the day.
Ive already written my opinion on how generally boring this album/era is in comparison to other contemporary releases. And Perfect Illusion sucks. But you cant sit there and honestly say Million Reasons is not a perfectly solid ballad. It has great songwriting and a solid hook. To me its not bad, its just not something I care to listen to. And from the samples ive heard a majority of Joanne isnt. You not personally liking something does not mean shes not evolving, you just dont like what shes evolved into.
It's not a masterpiece but it's wayyyyy better than PI. It's very catchy and it's cute.
PI has akward vocals and it's just really cringe inducing. The GP agrees that closer is better than PI....
