every time charts come out it always seems to be the american chart that matters the most to this site?? I mean I know it's the largest music market but it's odd when people drag each other's faves over their success in a single country instead of looking at the bigger picture (their overall global success).

people here sometimes even judge non-american acts based on american charts ffs usually without even looking at/checking their success in their home region(s).

It's not just ATRL anyway, when an artist says 'my album/song went top 10', they almost always mean on the Billboard charts.

It's the most important Western music market, and seeing as most people here stan for acts who are promoted to Western audiences, it only makes sense.

I still think completely writing off hits in other markets is dumb, though.

Well Hot 100 is the most important chart so obviously it gets more attentions but you can have a big global hit even without smashing in the US, Lush Life is a perfect example of this.
