I was filling out a job application a few mins ago and one of the questions was "State your sexuality". I just put "Prefer not to say" because I'm not 100% confident enough about my sexuality.


But what has this question got to do with the job? At my last job, I was never asked to answer a "What's your sexuality?" question on the form.

It's so they can hire people of sexual minorities as a part of affirmative action!

I haven't encountered this but I'll be confused also. I know they always ask about gender but not sexuality. What are you suppose to write in there. I guess it'll be hard for me since I'm not out. It would be like betraying myself.

Because it doesn't matter whether you're confident about your sexuality or not. You can't control homophobia, and especially not if it's your (future) boss who's homophobic Employees have no case against them.

I've never seen that on any app, but if it were, it would probably be an optional thing.

It should never be a question, but I feel like if it is, it might be a company with strong social ventures where being a part of the LGBTQIA+ community is actually preferable. But still, it's crappy.

Cuz homophobes are everywhere, and they are bitchy to you, even at work place. I experienced it, and no sis, it's aint a tick in a box. It will determine how ppl will treat you, you will not be the helpful colleague, the nice colleague, the hardworking colleague, but that one gay colleague everyone talk behind your back and makes fun of.
