So I've seen this said multiple times on here and honestly I just can't understand it
I can't remember one time in my life where I did or thought something racist. I work at a job where I have to deal with strangers from all over all the time and I've never thought something about someone because of the color of their skin. I know I can't be the only person that genuinely doesn't care about someone's race...? I feel like people that say "everyone is a little racist" is just trying to come up with an excuse for their own racist views.
I agree that everyone is a bit racist. I'm like you that I've lived in communities with all kinds of people and don't care about skin color and go to a very liberal college but I think the way society is we are taught to be racist. There's obviously varying levels of racism and not everyone is going to be at a KKK level or something but I think deep down there are some racist tendencies even if they are small.
As in being inherently racist from birth? Highly unlikely. If anyone is a "little racist" it's because they grew up in a racist environment. Kids have a strange reaction to different races because they're characteristics are unfamiliar, not because they're racist. If you have your child believe that these "unfamiliar" races are bad then they'll easily buy into it and become inherently racist. It's sort of hard to erase stuff like that once it's been done.
Not the dictionary meaning of "racist" but I feel like we've all definitely made jokes to our friends. Obviously in the social media age, most of us are more aware and don't really say such things anymore.
No. That bull **** was started by white people so they can make racist jokes and micro aggressions without getting scalped. If you recognize you're " a little bit racist" why don't you try to fix it instead of just accepting your ignorance

Yes, everyone is a little bit racist. No exaggeration there at all. That may seem like a massive generalization, but the idea that individuals are NOT racist after being exposed to and conditioned to racism from birth is actually a lot harder to believe if you think about it.

the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
I do think society has a part in it but it's up to the individual to believe what they see/hear This is why we need better representation of all people in Hollywood.
