Facebook has a literal timeline of my life since the 6th grade. While that'll be good to look back on one day, it's weird at the moment because of all the cringey old pictures and posts. On Twitter/Tumblr/Snapchat, I'm not tied to my past and the only things you can see on my profile represent who I am and what I'm like currently.
Minion memes
older people and their pathetic memes
"share if you like..."
Religious memes
The fact that the news feed is not in chronological order unless I set it
The fact that if I like someone's personal photo, it shows up in my newsfeed for everybody to see
The fact that nobody ever posts statuses about their lives anymore
Everytime my boyfriend's mother sees that another black person in the news got shot, she posts stuff like this:
Then it's **** like
I'm not here for her ignorant backwoods hick mom memes and how she thinks she knows the whole story. she is just assuming ****.
I don't hate it. Don't use it much though, just check it everyday to wish people Happy Birthday, check messages etc. There's normally someone to message at least once a week. Have had the same account since 2005 with around 4k friends.
I never understand the "old people are ruining it" complaint :\ Like... are you friends with these "old people"? It's not like your timeline is suddenly going to show random older parents and what they're posting...If you're friends with a few, then just unfriend them if what they're posting bothers you that much.
Anyways. I don't hate it. I'm just not as preoccupied with it as I was when I was in high school. Back then it was just an easier way to get in touch with classmates for assignments, group projects, etc. Now as an adult, I have other priorities and updating my social medias isn't one of them.

Agreed. A Facebook status is far more formal than a tweet, thus I use the latter more often. Normally just tag artists, movies and TV shows so people know I'm alive. It's also useful to have a view of the general public as about a thousand are from school, two thousand are gays in the UK and then there's randoms from online who live around the world. It just isn't fun.
There's no anonymity. Which in a way is a good thing because it ties some responsibility to what one posts, but that's also ****** because of the simple fact that a hiring supervisor can easily choose not to hire a person based on the private life a potential employee broadcasts on Facebook, which they can find easily with a simple Google search of the applicant's name. At least with Twitter, Tumblr, and some other social media, one's name is not inherently tied to (or at the very least publicly displayed on) the account, thus one can generally freely post and repost whatever they choose without worry of "real life" consequences. (This carries other problems though of course.)
