Lady Gaga The Fame Monster.
An album where Lady Gaga sings about the horrible side of Fame. She is forced to relive her 8 fears in this neatly compiled magnum opus. It is almost as if Gaga wrote this album as if it was a libretto in the sense that she came up with the visuals, outfits, stage, lightning etc
Britney Spears Blackout.
Britney was highly involved on this LP after a long 4 year break since her previous LP In The Zone. Blackout is emblematic of the fall of a beloved blonde pop star. Britney suffered a lot in the year of 2007 with her infamous breakdown. The album is a reflection of Britney in 2007 but it also divulges her dark side in which she masks it by partying and clubbing which is why a lot of the songs are very dancy but have a somewhat darker production.

The colorful bright light hearted cover is just an illusion of what appears to be one of the most darkest albums not just in pop but in general. The album tells a story of how certain colors in your life shine brighter than others but no matter how vibrant the color is, there is a haunting symbiotic phantom dwelling on the back of your cerebral cortex. We light to paint away our nightmares and make them beautiful with bright happy colors but sometimes pastel colors doesn't keep the phantom riding the horse away (FEAR). Some say is darker than the "Rid Of Me" album by alternative rock artist PJ Harvey.
Rihanna Rated R One of Rihanna's best albums as it is very personal of the struggles she's dealt with physical violence and love emotional abuse from her ex during 2009. Rihanna sings and cries in some of these tracks where she discusses a love that is now ended and can't be fixed.
What is the darkest pop album out of these options in your opinion?
