La respuesta es sencilla, María: los dos son idiomas latinos. Fonéticamente hablando son los dos idiomas romances más parecidos también. El acento italiano es mucho más facil de pronunciar para mí que el portugués y francés.

Italian is closer to Latin than Spanish and didn't have the Arabic and Basque (and indigenous and African for dialects in the Americas) influences that Spanish had. Italian has like 6 definite articles and uses the definite articles for possessive adjectives. Spanish is more simplified and thus easier to learn.

i don't think so, Italian was really created in the 1200ies, I think Spanish was already formed by then

You could say el libro mio, but 99% of the time people would just say "Mi libro"

You just say 'mi libro' in Spanish. French has even fewer articles, they just have le, la and les.

sis gli and lo are just to make the words sound better, so it's actually an improvement, they ago before words that start with vowels.

Italian also created the universal word "ciao"
