Lately, I've been considering going on a personal protest of capital letters. I mean, they seem kind of unnecessary to me. I understand we have our proper nouns (people, places, or specific things or concepts) that easily distinguish certain things (such as god representing a superior being or deity and God representing the superior being), but I'm starting to wonder if they are really necessary. Most meanings of words and phrases can be determined from context anyways. Asian languages seem to do perfectly fine without capital letters / symbols and aren't Asians more advanced than the rest of the world in many areas anyways?

What are your thoughts on capital letters?

YES THEY ARE NECESSARY.

i despise them. i never use them with my personal stuff. i hate them!

We need them. It makes writing more neat & tidy.

Hmmm. I suppose they do make things look neat and tidy. And I do agree they are also necessary for expressing intense emotion... Hmmm...

We can read sentences fine without them, everything still makes sense, but as well as neatness, I think capital letters also help us to find the start of a new sentence, rather than just relying on a full stop. If you catch my drift?

because i could write you a paragraph like this. my sentences are still complete, neat and you know where to pause or stop and where the next one begins. i'm not trying to be a dick either. i'm just trying to give a visual and verbal rebuttal to the point you brought in.

Yeah, commas/full stops do that anyway I suppose. Well, we don't need capital letters, it's just my opinion that they make things neater and (overall,) easier to understand.
