Lmao. Typical whiners.
Just play it. Why are you all so obsessed with gameplay.
I play it for the STORYLINE. When I first played RE6 I didn't like it because it was too much like Call of Duty, then I played it again two years later and realized it wasn't that bad. When the PS4 version came out, from July to August, I non-stopped played it trying to achieve all the rankings/upgrades, etc.
And honestly, I got over it. The gameplay STILL sucks, I admit it, but I play for fun because I enjoy the storyline. I hate the fact Capcom threw way too much unnecessary QTA's in it.
Resident Evil to me is STORY oriented, not gameplay. Like I could careless about the fixed camera angle in the first 5 RE (meaning I don't like it/prefer it), but instead I play it to watch the characters progress. I love Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Wesker, Ada, Leon Kennedy, among other characters like Rebecca Chambers, and Barry Burton.
To me Resident Evil is like a family. I honestly do NOT believe all the people whining are true dedicated fans of this franchise. There is more to a game than just the gameplay. Go play Heavy Rain. Beyond Two Souls. Life Is Strange. Prince of Persia 2. Just a few I can think of. To me, the story line of those games is what makes them stick out and considered a classic. I forgot to even mention the Uncharted series

and speaking of...The Last Of Us
Just admit it, you aren't a RE fan then...I'll accept any change cause I'm a true devoted fan to the characters and story.
