Recently, there has been a lot of white tears and people in there tears over Black Americans protesting the national anthem. Apparently, black people sitting down and being quiet is causing a national uproar because people are sensitive over a song because of the symbolism or something like that. However, I remember not too long ago people were SHOOK when black people shut down entire cities (Baltimore, Ferguson) and actually directly confronted the state and shut sh*t down.

So which is it? When African Americans stopped being disruptive and actually found a passive way to protest, people are still calling it attention seeking an inappropriate. FYI, these are the same people who said that black people need to find another way to protest besides being violent.

I'm starting to think that people don't want African Americans to stand up for themselves at all and they want us to lay down and accept our status as lower class citizens.

Someone is always gonna be finding a fault even when people protest peacefully, let alone violently cause then it's easier to call those involved thugs making stuff worse.

Can't win with folks who don't think there's a problem going on and refuse to think on it.

Well... Didn't BLM protest in violence in Minneapolis a few weeks ago by burning down cars and breaking windows and it did nothing but get bad press with Dallas it was the same outcome. A silent protest brings discussion so that.

These types of people are always spinning the story to fit their own narrative. Protest peacefully, we're a disgrace to the flag. Protest violently, we're thugs. You cannot win when there are people out there who simply do not believe black people are victims of racism and oppression. So with that in mind, we should not give a single flying **** about how white people feel towards our methods of protest.

I heard someone say because people were protesting the pledge of allegiance peacefully that it wouldn't force the world to take notice. So I wonder what that same person who said that would want us to do next?

I agree with what the other posters above me said, basically White people are gonna pissed no matter what manner Black people protest in.

Historically, change has only come through violent/belligerent uprising.

So I mean, I'm not condoning it, but at some point enough is enough.

Obviously every protest should be peaceful, but I don't want it to inconvenience me (e.g., blocking traffic, delaying flights, etc.)!
